Since the mid-1970s drawing has been at the genesis of most of the work that I have made over the past forty-odd years. These drawings have been a way to think through and develop my ideas. Fortunately, I saved them to keep a record of my thinking. In looking back at them all these many years later, what puzzles me is why and how so many of them ended up as paintings instead of sculptures– given that so many of them were representations of three-dimensional objects in space.
